Lion d'Or was a Winner in Ireland at 3 years old and retired sound. He then stood at stud in Kentucky alongside his Group II winning full brother d'Accord, a stakes producing sire.

In racing, Lion d'Or's progeny in America have already won over 2 million dollars. These include Meryl's Myth $267,687, Bessiepunkindo $292,000, Miss Candystripe $211,000, My Kentucky Rose $112,095, Mr Goldbar $114,000 etc., in all 40% Winners to foals born.

Lion d'Or then passed his full veterinary examination when we bought him from America in 1997. He was immediately approved in open inspection at Portlaoise Equestrian Centre, among his first visiting mares were two International showjumpers together with show mares and Grade 'A' dams.

Lion d'Or's sire Secretariat (USA) is exceptionally beautiful and has been described as 'the perfect horse'. He is also a noted sire of jumpers including 'Quantum Leap' an International showjumper for USA, two approved sport horse sires in the USA, the 3rd highest rated 3-Day Event horse in the USA, an approved Zangersheide sire 'Seclusive', the leading sire 'National Zenith' ( 3/4 brother to Lion d'Or) approved in Sweden and an approved sire in Germany also successful in his 100 day performance test.

Lion d'Or's dam Fanfreluche was so famous, she made headlines when she was kidnapped from her French Canadian owner but was thankfully returned unharmed!
