March News 07

We had a great trip with our first outing in our newly painted lorry which we got back at last. Conan got rosettes with all his four ponies and with Lovely he was joint first in the under 10's and won the ABC. On Wednesday the 7th we took Cancun VDL and Cordoba VDL to the stallion inspections in Cavan and as far as I know the both were classified S1 with Cancun getting the 'P' (the higher status for stallions that the judges particularly like). Saturday the 10th Richard took Cancun VDL and VDL Arkansas to Cavan Show, the first show Richard has ridden in since October 2005! He just jumped them both in the 1m class, Arkansas had a double clear and Cancun spooked at the double for a stop but otherwise jumped well as it was his very first show.

St.Patricks Weekend So many things are beginning to happen on the weekends, we have to make choices which to attend. This weekend was Cavans' two day pony show with a qualifier for the Louth County which Conan was aiming for in the under 10's. This he achieved with a 3rd on Lovely on Sunday. The ponies all went very well showing us that these expensive lessons we keep having for Conan is helping him a lot (along with Daddy's training too when Conan listens!). The experts, in the study of sports, maintain that the most important age of learning is between the ages of 8 and 11, It is this learning period that determines their full potential in the long run. This refers to any sport as far as I understand, be it ballet, gymnastics, chess etc. It will be interesting to see. Anyway it went well. The picture here left, shows the three novices waiting for their class ;Jack, Limited Edition and Charlie. We got the lorries sign writing finished on Friday, just in time for the show. This was done by 'Navada Signs' and they did a fine job. Going to this show ment we had to skip the Midland Connemara Pony Stallion Parade in Mullingar which was regrettable as we had hoped to take Westside Mirah there. Now I find that next w/e the Clifden Stallion Parade clashes with a show we want to go to in Broadmeadows. Jack needs to get enough points to upgrade into 'C' as he needs to get into the ABC classes. To do this he needs about 20 more points before the end of April. It sounds far away but before we know it, the stud season will get going, and our time will no longer be ours. It looks as though Richard, Conan and the Ponies will go to Broadmeadows and I (Heather) will go to Clifden with Westside Mirah for the Parade.

Don't forget Cavan EC is holding their Stallion Parade this Wednesday the 21st, where we intend to do a stand and just parade Westside Mirah and Clover Flush. Hope to see some of you there.

The Parade went well and we also brought VDL Arkansas and Cancun VDL. We only found out on the day that we could bring Cancun VDL as the rule not allowing SIP registered stallions had been changed. This ment we had an awful rush to wash Cancun and have him ready too too leaving ourselves no time to plat. This only looked bad with Arkansas as his main goes on both sides but it was more important to let people see them.

23rd March. We had the bad news today that Ard VDL Douglas is not coming back this year. Douglas has become so popular in Holland, also VDL want him to do the Olympics too, so they have decided to keep him. We had shook hands with them for him to be here for this year, but at the end of the day, he is not ours. This is a shock for us particularly as the case is still going ahead as regards his approval. Maybe if Douglas had been approved as he should have been, his fees earned would have encouraged VDL to keep him over here with us and maybe not take him back at all. You only have to be in our situation to know how that feels.

On a good note; We are negotiating with another of our clients for an International Showjumping stallion to take Douglas's place. But firstly we have to get his X/Rays sent over and checked with the IHB. After that we will let you know. He is not a young horse and young horses like Douglas can always be exciting, but he has already proven to be a great sire, so breeders should be very pleased. It is lovely how chances come by.

This week end we are heading down to Clifden for the Connemara Pony W/E to listen to the lectures on conformation, watch 24 stallions giving a jumping display and on Sunday parade Westside Mirah. He was in such great form in Cavan that he should be well up to the trip. I don't know if I am though but my Mother said today, that she would join me for the long journey. My Mother, Margo Dean was responsible for my love of horses. She has been breeding them (with us now) for over sixty years, we have a lot to thank her for. Here is a picture (right) of me as a young girl sitting on my first pony, 'Ashe Grey', now famous in various breeding lines. At that time I could not understand why my lovely white 13.2 pony, was given this name, so I called her 'Snow White'.

I'm home again, Clifden was lovely and Westside Mirah was in great form, he paraded me! He was the only stallion to get a round of applause, I felt very proud to be with him, thanks to Eric Walsh for sending him to us.

Our new stallion this year is called 'Jumbo Jet'. He is by the famous Concorde. He was ranked 10th of the top older horses in Holland last year so he is one of the good ones. He showjumped Internationally (before injury) and has sired an International showjumper. He has also sired many dressage horses. Quote from the Leading stallions 2003 states; "The percentage of Jumbo Jet's offspring that do really well in showjumping is very impressive" I have just started up his page for you to see,  I have more to put in yet, more pictures hopefully.

April News '07

Cordoba VDL (now IHR S1) has just headed back to VDL on this first Monday and Jumbo Jet will be arriving on the return trip. Conan jumped his two ponies at Ross House on Sunday the 1st, they went well. Charlie had two double clears and Jack one as he knocked one in the second class. Tuesday we are taking Charlie with Conan to a X-Country rally with the Pony Club, it will be interesting to see how she goes in this sort of outing, it will be a first for us.

The X-Country went the best. Could not believe how good and well behaved Charlie was. She never looked twice at any of the jumps and was so calm and easy, Conan was delighted. We also did the finals at Cavan with all of them going well only being a bit unlucky. Jack clocked the fastest time in the C+D finals by two seconds! but one down. He finished 4th in the under 10s with Lovely but had her 'first ever' stop in the 128 Grand Prix, so we feel something is not just right with her. Probably she was not in form as she had put on weight, we cut her food down and she was just not feeling herself.

Jumbo Jet arrived but to our dismay he has a problem behind which is unlikely to pass vet inspection and will therefore have to go straight back home. One just can't get too upset about these things anymore, but it was a bit of a shock and a big disappointment. I will leave his page for a week before I take it off the site as he is a lovely horse. There is this possibility of another very good horse, we are having a meeting this next week and will know then. The season is underway with mares arriving, while our mares, now overdue, are still holding on to their foals. The first pair are two weeks over already.

15th April. Took Mirah Mania to the Connemara Inspections in Mullingar today and he gained full approval, a great flag to add to his jumping pedigree and ability. Here is a picture of him I took there. I heard afterwards that he was the smallest of the 70 or so, colts and stallions inspected that day! He's a good 13.2hh (138cms) so it shows the need for the smaller pony.

In the morning before we left, three mares arrived from England visiting Maximum Clearance to breed eventers. And they should as they are top mares from 'Preci Eventers Horses'.

The following morning I was rung at the last minute to be one of the inspectors for the Connemara mares and geldings on the 16th, as one of the inspectors had put his back out that morning. Judging was very interesting and I saw some lovely ponies.

While all this was going on, the other evening our poor little Connemara mare 'Garryhinch Cinderella' who is two and a half weeks overdue, choked on her evening feed of nuts (which she has been getting twice a day for ages). Richard fed her about 7pm infront of the house and the next moment there she was, with froth coming out of her mouth and both nostrils. She was gagging and starting to sweat. The vet came and gave her a relaxant but did not want to dope her because of her pregnancy. There was no change during the night and the next morning we had our usual vet arrive, who gave her the dope this time, and put a tube down her throat to see where the blockage was and if it would shift, it was way down close to the stomach. When she removed the tube Cinderella had a nose bleed just to make maters worse. A cold hose held to her head soon stopped that, thank goodness. Now there seemed nothing more we could do for a while. Another relaxant injection was given that afternoon but still she was no better by night fall. It was now over 24 hours and we were getting very worried, no drink, no food and her heavy infoal. In the morning it would be intravenous fluids, or an operation. But thank goodness it cleared in the early hours and she is tentatively eating grass and lots of sips of water by 7am. I think she is quiet sore. I offered her a gruel but she was not impressed. Now we just have to watch her that she doesn't develop phenomena, and that the soreness from the probable inflammation in her throat goes away.

Our good friend 'Marily' sent us this picture of Douglas at VDL's Stallion Parade held recently. You can see why they want to keep him. This is not a national parade, this is VDL's own parade of just their own stallions, and you can see from the picture the interest breeders have over there. Dear old Douglas.

Friday 20th April 10am NEWS JUST IN. The new stallion to join us at Ard Cherrymount Stud is Luidam. He will be arriving next Thursday as Billy Twomey and his owners have decided to retire him from International competition. He is a great horse representing Ireland throughout the world in Nations Cups ridden by Billy Twomey. He jumped the double clear round for Ireland to win the Aga Khan’s Nations Cup in 2004. The only stallion to stand in Ireland who has ever done this.

Our charge for sending semen around Ireland has had to go up for this year, due to rising costs. The charge is now €40 and this will bring it to your nearest train station on week days. Alternatively it can always be picked up here at the stud, just book with Richard on 086-2489970.

Just looking around the internet and it is interesting to see the Stud Book Ranking with the World Breeding Federation

Tuesday 24th Luidam arrived looking lovely, and shiny, so I took a picture. More quality than we expected and trotting him up, he has a great step. We are getting a lot of bookings so it looks as though we are going to have a very busy season ahead of us. Its looking good for most of the other stallions too, as many have progeny starting to show form, which is a great plus.

Richard has now had five sleepless nights resulting in five foals so far. Ard Caramel (by Ard Ohio) had a very exciting smart dun colt by Douglas (Richard wants to call him Golden Syrup!). The same night Garryhinch Cinderella had a black (to turn grey) filly by Westside Mirah (which I want to call Snow White, after the pet name for her great great grandmother which was my pony, really named 'Ashe Grey' (pictured March previously)) This foal was four days short of twelve months in utero which was probably why it arrived a bit 'ratty' like! Its pretty head and some time should improve all that. Then a couple of nights later a bay colt out of our Golden Cliff mare, followed by a black filly out of our Cavalier mare, both by Douglas, all correct and big. Today, Wednesday, after morning work, teasing mares, Conan's lessons with Ian Fearon in Mullingar and doing up for the night Richard headed up for an early night in a 'real bed' (instead of a camp bed in the yard between foaling boxes) while I got a chance to update this. Then probably the next night the next mare will be more imminent.

May News '07

It's now the Friday the 11th. The stud is very, very busy ad Richard and I are finding ourselves finishing our day between 11 and 1 am some nights!. The guy we had helping us do the stables in the morning was so unreliable we had to let him go, always late and regularly not turning up. All our foals have been born, I am going to put a new page showing the band of brood mares with information, and their current foals which will all be for sale. Last week end, Richard left Conan, myself and the two ponies in Cavan for their first outdoor three day show (as he had to go back to manage the stud). Jack jumped in his first ABC with just a pole down. A few red rosettes but generally no luck even though we were pleased with how they went. The weekend of the 5th we had a double page spread in The Irish Field Newspaper that came out very well.

The season is now in full swing. Here is a picture of Richard out teasing with Mirah Mania. Poor Richard managed to get kicked a few days ago, right on the shins, which is now going black and blue. It doesn't stop him, just slowed him down a bit! I felt so sorry for him. It was actually Mania who did it when he got excited with his first mare. He didn't mean to get Richard but these things can happen.

We have a new page 'Mares' which will show you our broodmare heard; what foals they have and who they are covered by. Showing 'this seasons foals'  that will be for sale, probably at the Cavan and Goresbridge venues. It gives the breeding and a brief description on each of the mares and a picture of the young foals, enjoy. There will be a few more pictures still to come as I just got a new Nikon camera and if only I could get more time, I would love to use it!

June News '07

Friday 2nd A new addition to Ard Cherrymount Stud; a three year old son of Ard VDL Douglas hopefully to be named 'Dougalier'. Richard purchased him during the week and he has since passed a full vetting. I say 'full' because now stallions have to have 18 x-rays to be eligible for full approval with the IHR so once these have been taken they can accompany him if we wish to stand him as a stallion. He is out of a Cavalier mare, well related and just rising three. When Richard came home I could not believe how similar he was to Douglas when he was three, he just a different face and not so dark a bay.

It will be fun to see how he progresses over the next few weeks as he hasn't done very much yet and loose jumping will be new to him. Talking about loose jumping, we see that the 3 y'old qualifiers are starting in about three weeks time. We have only just taken in a couple of our fillies, in the hope that we can get them ready in time, leading anyway! we didn't get much time to do any of that yet!!!

Its the 2nd week on June and the numbers of mares arriving is matching last year, surprising, as last year had been our busiest season so far. We had to put our three year olds out again as we needed the stables for mares giving us little choice anyway we were not getting the time to work them, maybe next week. We have some of our three year old fillies covered as we find it better not to try and do too much with then at four which is very tempting to do when you get going with the. We also got Ard Sugar Daddy back home after being away for seven weeks to be broken, as again, we just had no time to do him ourselves. Unfortunately,  though he looked well, he was too nervous to accept me getting up on him! It obviously did not go to plan so we have put him out to 'chill out', get his teeth done and then get going with him again. We think he is going to be such a star for lots of reasons. Talking about a star, I forgot to tell you. You may have noticed one of the horses I had Evented and had for sale on this site was called Ard Solo, Well, he was sold to Vere Philips and had his name changed to Hide and Seek. Just just recently he finished 'Best of the British' at Badminton Int. 3 Day! where he finished 9th overall. He was supposed to be by Regal Sting but when we tried to trace up his  dam, we head that he was actually by a, then 2 year old son of Regal Sting, bred by a man who did a lot of trading and just sold them on, mostly as youngstock. So that was the end of that.

We tried the young Douglas colt. It was so funny. Even though he moves like an amazing athlete, changing legs every tern, balanced playing and kicking the stars with fluid power. His first run down a little double we put up in the arena was like watching a bad thoroughbred. Richard and I avoided eye contact as there was money at stake here and as it was only Richard that had travelled off to see him I knew how he was feeling. So around we sent him again whereupon he fumbled over it again...I think he did the 2nd part by leaving the ground off all four legs together, as though he was avoiding a blowing crisp bag. Now we had to console each other and point out the merits of owning a ' very nice looking horse with a lovely temperament, "Don't worry love" I said to Richard, when all I really wanted to do was scream at him. "maybe he is just being babyish". With trepidation we made a little parallel for the 2nd part and set him off again. Then to our relied it all started to come together. The way he can play started to show in his jumping. Our relief was immense. He started to look very scopy, obviously very green and with a big engine behind he just had to work out how to do it. All he needed was our patience, now he just needs the time.

A list of leading Irish sires of Event Horses has been published in the Irish Field this week end (10th June) and Cruise On is lying in 4th place for horses in America, 2nd if you are talking about 'living' sires, piped by his Dad Cruising.

For those of you with an interest in horses coat colours and  what your mare may breed to a certain colour of stallion, you should find this page very interesting. It also gives you the details of where you can get the DNA tested for colour inheritance. The site is called www. horsetesting.com and it links to a 'Colour Calculator' I think it is great fun but the hardest thing to do first is to distinguish what colour your horse actually is!

This is great - here is the related site that helps us know our horses colour www.equinecolor.com - I am off to do that now myself.

Its the end of June now and I have not been entering much here, it has just been so busy. We had a surprise visit from a customer who fell in love with Mirah Mania. They wanted a good looking Connemara stallion that could jump and he was what they wanted. When Richard said that they accepted our price I have to say I shed a few tiers as I had such dreams of Conan and Mania jumping to the top. I just wish we were one of those business people who had a big profit making company and just did horses for fun, we would then defiantly have said "no". I don't know how much longer he will be with us but he hasn't gone yet.

July News '07

The weather is awful. We have two lovely French students staying; Mark and Guillaume. Guillaume has been here for four weeks and it has rained every day! Mark hopes to be here till August so I hope we get a fine day before that. Conan has been doing very little with his ponies but we hope to get to shows again soon, as does Richard with some of the stallions. Conan has been doing some Pony Club things though, here is a picture;

We have just agreed to purchase a coloured colt. He is only a yearling but has been tested homozygous tobiano and homozygous black. I love him because he has two beautiful blue eyes (which I think looks really 'cool') and lovely markings. He is by the champion coloured stallion ''Free Spirit' a son of the great 'Jumbo', the UK based sire of so many great eventers, especially this year.

Monday 9th July Conan started his mini Pony Club Camp. Here on the stud the rain is becoming very depressing and mares are beginning to be effected; not coming into season etc. We have just over 60 visiting mares at the moment and new bookings still coming in. Three of our own mares are due to be checked soon and if they are not infoal I think we will leave them. We may try our Connemara again as she is 19 which would not be a good time to miss her. And we have just sold her lovely filly. With so many horse on the place the wet is causing the grass to be just 'walked into the ground' and changing fields becomes more rapid. I do hope it gives us a break soon. Then at the end of this week we have the Cavan Pony International with just Jack and Charlie. Richards shows were cancelled when he did plan time to take the stallions so hopefully next week.

Tuesday 17th July. Richard took Cancun to his first show at Ross House today and got his first points with a double clear in the 90 and the 1m. Abbervail had a double clear in the 1.10m too. Over the week end our last three mares were all scanned infoal, 16 out of 16. To top that, Conan finished 6th in the finals of the Cavan Home Countries International in the under 10s with Jack. He was very brave, as the week had started with a few mishaps where he ended on the floor three times! Now he is happy to wear his body protector and is very pleased with Jack.

August News '07

I have not been updating this, probably because I feel I should be doing the jobs I don't enjoy first; like my accounts on Douglas. On this I have to go back over the years and dig up all the accounts for our legal battle to get him fully approved. The other day we heard the good news that the Douglas case is to be heard in the High Court on the 5th of December (this year!)

As for the news; Conan has been doing well with his ponies. Lovely won the ABC at the Ross House Finals and Jack was third. Limited Edition (the little coloured) is jumping her double clears and Conan's friend Killian has been Jumping Charlie. She actually goes better for him and I think we have done an exchange for a pony he has, also called Charlie but the male kind. Killian stayed here for a week getting lessons from Richard, it was great fun with Conan riding more than he ever does.

Richard has jumped at a few more shows and Cancun VDL always seems to goes clear. VDL Arkansas and Abbervail are also going well with double clears, bar the final were Richard tried to take a very tight turn in a very fast jump-off. We have sold a few more of our youngsters including Ard Duplicate which we had decided not to sell !

We are looking forward to a break by visiting the Dublin Horse Show so there will be little else going on here for this week at least.

The Dublin Horse Show was very enjoyable. The highlight for us was to see the 4 y'old by Ard VDL Douglas become the Reserve Champion in the same finals Douglas won when he was 4. This was Douglas' first crop, Douglas also sired the winner of the Balmoral 4 y'old Jumping Championship earlier in the year too. For Dublin the horses have to qualify and qualify again during the week. In the Championships the horses are then ridden over a course of fences by an International rider who speaks over a loudspeaker on their findings at the end. This horse was bred by Vincent Loftus. We had taken him once loose jumping in Cavan in the Summer but due to having just been broken and riding up to the day before he was tired on the day and did not show a 'flash' even though he jumped well and did not qualify proving that young horses are not always easy to judge. Both Douglas, VDL Arkansas and Cruise On had placings throughout the show with their progeny but the exact results I will have to check.

Over the last two weeks we have sold a number of our youngstock just coming of age. A 3 y'old filly by Douglas infoal to Loudam who will be travelling to the UK. Two Connemaras travelling just North of us along with one of the Douglas filly foals. Ard Sugar Daddy looks to be heading to the US and a Douglas 4 y'old will be staying in County Meath. We then did an exchange; Charlie Girl for Cheeky Charlie. Between Conan and his friend Killian (who showjumps with Conan) so the new member of our 12.2hh gang is a bay 4 y'old with over 40 jumping points.

The shows are going well for Conan. In Roscommon Agriculture show he won the ABC with Lovely Silver, The others divided the C+D. Jack was doing a very controlled round in the ABC untill Conan decided to let him off rather fast at an upright, which resulted in Conan on the floor none the worse for wear. With the body protector still sitting in the lorry tack box! I vowed he would wear it from now on.

Thursday 16th August I had the great honour to be a judge at the Clifden National Connemara Pony Show. It was wonderful. Each class finished with a winning line of beautiful ponies, excelling in both type and movement. In the stallion class it was a crime to send any of the back line out of the gate. It was lovely to see the bone and quality in this class. I can only see the Connemara Pony continuing to improve in the near future. It was especially great to see that the winner of the 3 y'old stallion class, also the winner of the 3 y'old loose jumping final the previous day. A real achievement for Mick Rabbit his owner/breeder.

The Connemara Pony Sales the following day had a huge turnout with lots of quality ponies. Good prices throughout. I did find a pretty 2 y'old filly to take home as one does! Pictured here when she arrived home.

Tuesday 21st August. The loose jumping finals, prior to the sales, was won by a Westfalian stallion by Cornet Obolenshy and the runner up was a VDL Arkansas filly owned by Alan Wheeler, two fantastic jumpers. There was one Ard VDL Douglas that jumped well but was just out of the placings. It was a full brother to the 4 y'old that did so well in Dublin, I feel he could do well in the sales on Wednesday.

Saturday 25th August. Conan won the 128 Under 10 today, at the Mullingar National Pony and Young Rider Championship. It was so exciting. Richard and I were so pleased because Conan rode ever so well and even though he went very fast on Lovely Silver he still kept it smooth and stylish. His round was early on in a time of 20.33. With about 50 in the class there with some of the well known ponies doing a time of around 21. Near the end a time of 20.65 went into 2nd place and Conan kept his lead. A great boost for Conan. Sunday was a surprise as we found out when we arrived at the show with just the two novices, that Conan had qualified Lovely for the 128 ABC. A quick phone call found our friend Katie at the yard doing her horse, who was able to bring Lovely along in her box just in time for the class. It was great to see lovely going well again at this level with one down in the second round which just put her out of a placing in 7th. Had the pole stayed her time would have won the class. He also finished 7th on Kilmaddy Cheeky Charlie, the 4 y'old in the 128 CD final. By the time we got home we were all exhausted.

Sale time for our foals will be 4th and 5th October, Cavan Equestrian Centre; 6 foals by Douglas, a yearling by Douglas and our 2 y'old piebald colt by Irco Lhee which has grown into a fine big horse.

Away in France and away in the West of Ireland - I will let you all know when I am back on the week end of 15th - news then.

I'm back, France was great and very interesting. Richard and Conan came too but when I was judging they had a great time at Future Scope, a place I would love to go some day. At the show the classes were not so big this year, I gather this is due to the EVA but still the top few ponies in the big classes would equally compete with ours, but type did tend to diminished down the line. Then back in Ireland and straight into four days of CP inspections. In the midlands there were a larger number of big ponies compared to the west. Many nice ones to see but Rockmount had some extra special colts shown, and it had the largest numbers. The last day was held in Clifden where it was nice to see that there are still some smaller ponies to be found among all the 14.2's there are today!

September News '07

Sunday 23rd Sept.  Maximum Clearance died this morning. He had a massive hart attack, luckily Richards was with him. We were up early getting ready for a show and Richard noticed Max had not eaten his supper and was standing with his tail to his hay rack looking a bit off colour. He called the vet who was heading over and as Richard was leaving the stable Max took a jump forward and fell to the floor and that was it, he was gone. Every day he was getting out for most of the day and was in great form, his coat was good even thought he was a bit old in himself, he still played about. It was great that his last day was so warm and sunny where he could stand by his friend in the next paddock, we will miss him very much. He was also was such an underrated sire, he bred great foals which I am sure we will hear a lot about them the future.

Conan and the ponies manage to jump most week ends with the ponies and Cancun VDL has been making up points regularly over the last few weeks between Ross House and Broadmeadows. I will have to get some pictures.

October News '07

1st October; Richard brought the foals in for the sales this coming week. He brushed them and put rugs on them...that was fun! They have got so big and are getting woolly too. (I will try and add more tomorrow.)

Oct 4th and 5th Cavan sales went well . We sold Ard Hilda (Ard VDL Douglas ex Cloverhill Girl) for €9,400 bay filly pictured below, Ard Exclusive (Ard VDL Douglas ex Killagriff Limsey Riza) for €7,600 brown colt pictured below, Ard Toffie (Ard VDL Douglas ex Ard Caramel) for €5,200 and Ard Eclipse (Ard VDL Douglas ex Ard Silhouette) for €5,100.

We had some other sales recently; Ard Sugar Daddy is off to the States, Highdell Tatianna is going there too (she is a 3 y'old Ard Ohio infoal to Luidam). Ard Hawkeye is going to England to stand as a stallion and showjump as well.

We have also added a few to our heard; Firstly we found the 12.2hh Registered Connemara we have always wanted for Conan to showjump. She is called Mundon Fern, she is 5 years old and just broken. We also bought a 14.1hh steel Connemara mare, riding and going well. Also an 11 year old brood mare that won in Clifden and is very well related. Then Richard purchased a 3 year old Connemara gelding 13.2 which turned out to be a granddaugher of Ard Laurie, a mare we bred years ago. And lastly, I purchased a piebald filly foal which Richard was not too pleased about, as he did say we were selling all our foals! but as she had 'Ard Grandpa' on her sires side and 'Ard Allez Cat' on her dams side therefore it was hard for me to resist - she was lovely, having already been Champion foal at Strokestown Show against all foals, not just colourds. I will have to see if we keep her as she would be fun to show next year.

Cancun VDL goes for his IHR inspections this coming week (maybe 17th). He has been going really well at the shows so I do hope he gets approved.

November News '07

Its the 13th of November today and as you can see the news is rather far behind.  I will just tell you that Cancun VDL is still classified as S1 and I think we will have to upgrade him in performance before we represent him again, as he is a lovely horse. He has been very consistent in his showjumping gaining the required points in a very short time. I have a very detailed article form a Dutch magazine all about his breeding and when I get it translated I will put it all on his page. An Ard Ohio gelding won the Cavan International 4 y'old Championships last Sunday. We have one Douglas foal for sale and a brood mare infoal to Clover Flush, please email us if you are interested as they have to go before the Winter.

23rd Nov Our last foal is now sold but next week are a number of our studs progeny available at the Cavan Sales this coming week
