Richard Wright is a trained specialists EMRT (tm) - Practitioner.

Passing his final Exams in October ‘02 and achieved a distinction by the Equuis Collage of Learning and Research, Eumundi, Australia.

EMRT™ is Equine Muscle Release Therapy. It is a gentle manipulative therapy which works on the muscle and soft tissue fascia at specific proprioceptic neuro-muscular trigger points on the body. And as the fasclal network has a tendency to continue to hold contracted parts in tension until released. This can affect skeletal alignment—causing structural problems from spasms essentially pulling the skeleton out of alignment which is where EMRT can be so beneficial.

This is Bowen treatment and was founded in Australia by a man called Tom Bowen. In 1975 it was reported that he treated 13,000 people that year alone! He also treated some horses. But it was Allison  Goward  who developed  Bowen scientifically for horses, making E.M.R.T. the only official Bowen on Horses as recognized by the Bowen Academy of Australia.

We have, over the years, had many treating methods used on our competition horses, but when E.M.R.T. came along we found that it gave us real results and lasting improvements.  Since Richard started treating horses he has had tremendous success, particularly with horses in training. Within the year of being qualified Richard has had 26 of these horses, winning on the racetrack, and all  within four weeks of treatment. ! One such horse was The Bunny Boiler (pictured below) winning the Irish Grand National 2002

More on EMRT™

The development of E.M.R.T. continues from the understanding that horses, like people, suffer similar stresses and strains from all the athletic tasks put upon them. If they go untreated these can become problems for the body and cause a breakdown physically or otherwise resulting in numerous symptoms: Inflammation, spasms, lameness, stiffness oedemas, etc.. There can be a build up of lactic acid. All contributing to the skeleton being pulled out of  alignment.  It is just the same for horses. The cause can be emotional or mental, but the end result is a problem with a horse that is not in balance.

How come? Using ourselves as an example. When we receive an injury, our body can alter our posture or gait to avoid hurting that site of injury, particularly  a back injury., and after a while, our

body maintains that posture in our subconscious, so we don't have to keep thinking about it, we just know we have to avoid the pain. But when the initial injury heals, our body often retains that ‘safety posture’. It sort of ‘locks’, or ‘spasms’ our muscles, thus causing pain . These muscles can stay like this for our entire life and the body seems to exists in a state of ‘compensation’ you could say.

How can E.M.R.T. help in this example?

Treatments help to release these tensions and in doing so removes this muscle memory. The body can then realign itself . This can even be evident after the very first treatment.

The treatment itself.

In any discipline top athletes need regular attention to perform at their top level, whatever their treatment. With EMRT, a programme if three treatments is recommended, but one treatment can be of great benefit.   However, to help the body  adjust and maintain these changes, it has been proven that  additional treatments be preformed. Energy flows are stimulated & balanced, encouraging the body to reset & heal itself. This produces rapid and lasting relief from pain & discomfort. These treatments are usually done at seven day  intervals. The treatments take around 45 minutes to perform. Sometimes certain moves on a known subject can help a certain problem quickly, but  only  in addition to a treatment programme.

What does E.M.R.T. treat?

As it helps bring about a positive response to muscular, respiratory, organic and glandular conditions.  It is an ideal way to help the body function at an optimal level of health and efficiency and can be used as a preventative treatment, in the same way that sports massage is used by athletes. Equine Muscle Release Therapy can be used in conjunction with & complements other healing modalities, such as herbal medicine, as it   activates the body’s powerful natural self-healing  ability.

E.M.R.T is recommended to help with the  following:

·          Muscular, tendon & ligament strains
·          Skeletal/structural problems
·          Injury and illness speeds recovery and recuperation through improved circulation
·          Colds/flu, bladder/kidney infections, dry/cracked hooves, wound healing.
·          Removal of Toxins & lactic acid build-up associated with such conditions as "tying up"
·          Degenerative and Growth disorders
·          Mental/emotional problems caused by fear, tenseness.
·            Prevention of problems or simply an enjoyment for your horse to benefit.
EMRT™ can be used in conjunction with, and can complement veterinary and other healing modalities as it activates the body's powerful natural self-healing processes. It does not purport to replace veterinary treatment where this is required.
